Stem cells are naturally occurring cells in the body that are capable of dividing and differentiating into diverse specialized cell types and can self renew to produce more stem cells. What this means is that when stem cells are collected and activated, they can be placed into an affected area, such as an arthritic joint, allowing them to regenerate and grow into healthy tissue. The result is a diseased area becoming more stout and strong thanks to the new cellular growth.
"Can stem cell therapy be used for dogs and cats?" Yes!
We can treat various conditions with stem cells such as osteoarthritis, hip dysplasia, cruciate rupture, atopy, and intervertebral disc disease. Stem cell therapy is also available for "compassionate care" use for other diseases including kidney disease, diabetes mellitus, dermatology and IBD.
To date, we are pleased to report that we have done numerous stem cell procedures as well as having retrieved banked stem cells for joint and IV injection. We have also done several pediatric stem cell banking procedures during spay & neuter surgeries! These lucky pups now have their own Stem Cells saved for future use!
Call us today to schedule your pet's spay or neuter and have stem cells banked for the life of your pet.
